Joint strategic priorities for research and innovation 2021

The EU’s future Research & Innovation policy plays a fundamental role in helping the EU agri-food sector to address major global challenges such as climate change, food security, the occurrence of non-communicable diseases, and increasing societal demands. It will also be important in providing solutions that will enable the sector to enhance its sustainability and competitiveness whilst contributing to the implementation of the UN 2030 Sustainable Development Goals and objectives of the European Green Deal.

These challenges also represent an opportunity for a more resilient and competitive food system, building on the high standards in economic, social, and environmental sustainability, food safety, and fairness in the value chain of the European agri-food sector.

The ETP ‘Food for Life’ and Copa-Cogeca Working Party on Research and Innovation have updated their joint strategic priorities for the upcoming programming period. The document attached is the result of the collaboration between the agricultural and food industry sectors reiterating their commitment towards a coordinated approach to Research and Innovation actions for the EU agri-food sector.
